Afrobeat Star to the rescue of a no longer relevant rapper – Snoop Dogg Wants A Collabo With Nigeria’s Tems

American rapper Snoop Dogg recently expressed his admiration for Nigerian singer Tems and his desire to collaborate with her. Tems has earned an Oscar nomination in the category of best original song for her song Lift Me Up which was the lead single from the soundtrack album of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. The song was written by Tems and Ludwig, with additional writing from Rihanna and Ryan Coogler. Also nominated in the same category is Hold My Hand, written by Lady Gaga, The Lead Single to the soundtrack for the film Top Gun Maverick, Diane Warrens Applause and the Golden Globe winner in the same category Naru Nadu.

Lift Me Up peaked at number one in Belgium, Hungary, Switzerland and South Africa, number two on the US Billboard Hot 100 chart and top five in Australia and the United Kingdom. It was certified platinum by Music Canada, Gold by The Syndicate National Dell Editions and Gold by the Recording Industry Association of America.

Snoop Doggs admiration for Tems and his desire to collaborate with her is a testament to the success she has achieved with her music and the recognition she has received for it. It is also a sign of the growing recognition of African music and artists in the international music scene.
