The Transgender Community wants Aretha Frankilin's Natural Woman banned – They say its Offensive 🤭

A twiiter group founded by transgender people, the Trans-Cultural Mindfulness Alliance (TCMA), recently caused a stir on Twitter when they posted a tweet criticising Aretha Franklins 1968 song “Natural Woman”. They are saying the song perpetuates harmful anti-trans stereotypes.

The tweet went on to say that there is no such thing as a “natural woman” and requested that the song be removed from Spotify and Apple Music. The post caused a fierce backlash from many in the community, with many pointing out that the song is an empowering anthem for women.

In response to the backlash, TCMA tried to backtrack and claim that their tweet was a parody account, though they had made no mention of this prior to the tweet. It appears that the people behind TCMA genuinely believe that there is no such thing as a natural woman, despite the fact that many women experience a natural menstrual cycle and other biological processes that make them who they are.

Do you think the post by TCMA shows a lack of understanding of the experiences of women, and a disregard for the struggles that women have faced and continue to face? It is important to remember that there is a need for trans-inclusivity, but this should not come at the expense of erasing the experiences of women and their biology. Women should not be shamed for their natural processes, and it is important to respect and celebrate the experiences of all women.
